The Mum Hustle: Juggling It All and Crawling Out of the Box

Alright, let’s get real for a second. Have you ever looked at your to-do list and think, “Who signed me up for this?” Oh, that’s right—you did. As a mum, the full-time job, the endless house chores, and supporting everyone around you, it’s like being a superhero…but without the cool cape and with a heck of a lot more laundry. And on top of all that? Yeah, I’m building an online business. Because why not? I thrive on chaos.

But here’s the thing: I’m doing this because I want more. Not because I’m ungrateful or not content, but because I believe we’re allowed to dream big and chase whatever the heck we want. And if that sounds like too much for some people, well, that’s their issue.

Let me tell you a story—so, I’m chatting about my personal challenge (you know, the one where I’m earning an extra £3000 to take the family to New York for Christmas? Casual, no big deal, right?), and this person says to me, “Well, life doesn’t really work like that.” I asked, “Why not?” She hit me with, “That’s just not what happens. You go to work, save for things like that, and the lucky ones get to go.”

Well, excuse me! The “lucky ones”? No. This isn’t luck; this is hard work, planning, and the absolute refusal to stay stuck in the box. You know, that imaginary box that says, “This is your life now, settle in and don’t dream too big.” Well, guess what? That box has flaps, and we are crawling out. The view from outside is way better, trust me.

There’s a Whole World Out There, and It’s Waiting for You

My mission (and feel free to make it yours too) is to open people’s eyes. Life doesn’t have to be the daily grind if you don’t want it to be. We can live the life we actually want. How exciting is that? YOU, yes you, can decide to eat chocolate all day if you want (not recommended for obvious reasons, but hey, you do you). You can go to the gym every day. You can live to help others, or you can be that mysterious lady everyone avoids (but I recommend kindness).

The point is, you have choices. So many of us forget that. I don’t want to look back one day and think, “Well, that was…okay, I guess.” No! I want to say, “I lived it to the max!” And that’s what I’m building—an income that lets me travel, experience the world, and live my life, not just get through it.

So, What’s the Plan?

I’m making it happen by building my online business. Yup, while still doing the mum thing, the work thing, and trying to remember if I fed the dog. Because here’s the truth: you can build something for you, even in the middle of your busy life. It might mean working late at night or early in the morning, but if it gets you out of that box and into the life you want, isn’t it worth it?

And don’t get me wrong, it’s not all sunshine and roses. It’s hard. But let’s be real: everything worth having takes work, right? I’m determined to show other mums (and honestly, anyone who feels stuck) that they can do the same. You don’t have to sacrifice your family time or give up on your dreams. You can make it work for you.

Let’s Make Life Fun Again

So yeah, I’m juggling it all right now—family, work, building a business, planning holidays—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I refuse to believe that the “lucky ones” get to have all the fun. I’m making my own luck, and so can you.

The world’s out there, and it’s waiting for you to explore it. What are you waiting for? Crawl out of that box, girl. The view’s amazing!

If you want the same, please get in touch, I’d LOVE nothing more to help you reach your goals too.

  1. I love your attitude!! Yes, the choices we make today, as long as we stick with it, will bring fruition. Day after day, the choice originally made, grows in dimension. It helps exponentially to have a Master Mind. Accountability partners help. Mindset helps. Taking breaks help. Content creation is an art-form and brings great value to the world, in your own unique way. Keep going! Christmas in NYC will be exciting!! You may not be able to sleep due to all the stimulation!!

  2. Hi Sarah – You have the gift of motivating people and getting people excited! This was such a good kick in the pants ( in a good way) for me to read as I could not help but smile as I imagined your crazy life and compared it to my crazy life and realized that some of us share in crazy lives. Your statement, “I thrive on chaos” seems to be a theme for a lot of people, myself included. Without the chaos I’m not sure what I would do. It’s not that life would be boring it’s just not me to not either be in the middle of something or planning the next activity or event. And I like it that way! You are correct when you say that we have choices, and we should not forget that. Like that old saying says, ” We are free to make any choice we want we are just not free from the consequences of those choices.” I love that as it encourages me to try and “choose wisely” as Indiana Jones said in one of his movies. Thanks for your motivation today and have a fantastic week!

  3. Hi Sarah,

As a fellow mom balancing work, family, and building something of my own, I can totally relate to the whirlwind of responsibilities. It’s inspiring to see someone else refusing to settle and pushing to create the life they want. Your story about the £3000 challenge for New York was inspiring, it’s such a great reminder that hard work and determination, not luck, make things happen.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s encouraging to see that with the right mindset, we really can crawl out of that box and live life on our own terms. You’ve got me motivated now! Thanks, Sarah..

  4. Hi Sarah,
Like you, I don’t believe in luck — I do believe in myself and I believe that I can make the necessary changes in my life so that I don’t even think about luck.
There’s nothing worst than someone telling me that I have to “take it as it is and go with the flow”, ain’t happening!
I know you can do this and get that 3K you need fo the trip; and without sounding too old fashion: “You go girl!”.
    All the best!

    1. Thanks Marc. I’m definitely not going with the flow recently. Time will just pass by too quickly and I don’t want to miss a thing. Thank you for your constant encouragement

  5. I have to admire your attitude and dogged determination. What a wonderful inspiration you are. Yes, it’s hard work but I reckon you are thriving on it. I have no doubt that you will reach your goal. With an attitude like yours you can’t fail.

  6. What I love most is your focus on choices. It’s easy to forget, in life’s chaos, that we have choices. It might not always feel like it when the laundry piles up or when work feels overwhelming, but ultimately, we have the power to choose how we spend our time and where we direct our energy. You’ve channeled that power into creating a business that aligns with your values and long-term dreams, which is hugely inspiring.

Your message that it’s possible to build something of your own—even in the middle of the whirlwind of life—is so important. So many of us feel stuck, like we can’t pursue our dreams until things “settle down” or until we have more time. But the truth is, there’s never a perfect time. You’re showing that you don’t have to wait for the chaos to subside—you can build right in the middle of it.
