So, you’re out there, living your best life—or, let’s be honest, just trying to get through Monday. And you’ve probably heard all the “self-care” advice: eat right, meditate, journal, get 8 hours of sleep (yeah, okay). But let me tell you something people forget to mention: **you need a support network**. Not just the one at home, but a community too. Because let’s be real, even the strongest Wi-Fi signal needs a backup!
Home Support: Why Your People Matter
Home is where your heart is. It’s where you can vent about the terrible driver on the road that had the audacity to blame you, or the “funny” thing your coworker said that wasn’t really that funny. Your family, partner, roommates, or that plant you’ve been talking to since quarantine—whatever your situation, having people to lean on at home is like having an emotional power bank. They keep you charged when your energy is running low.
But here’s the thing: your home people can only handle so much. Imagine talking to your partner about the same drama every night? I’m sure you’ll get the side eye (meaning STOP talking!) Or maybe one day you need a pet sitter and your family community have decided to go away for the same weekend? How very rude! Plus what if you don’t have a support network at home?
Enter the Community: Your Expanded Safety Net
This is where your *community* comes in. Think of it like the extended warranty on your emotional stability. Whether it’s friends, neighbours, book clubs, gym buddies, or that random person who always likes your TikTok posts, having a wider support network can make life a whole lot easier.
Why You Need More Than Just Home Support:
- Fresh Perspectives: Your home crew loves you, but sometimes you need outside voices. Ever notice how someone you barely know can give you game-changing advice, while your mum just tells you to “Everything will be fine”? One of my past blogs “The Dash Not The Cash” was the advice given by a member from my affiliate marketing community. A mindset I will take to the grave.
- Shared Experiences: When you’re in a group of like-minded people, whether it’s a fitness class, a knitting circle, or your local Dungeons & Dragons squad, you find people who *get* you. You share a bond beyond just geography—it’s about shared passions, interests, and sometimes, mutual complaints. Personally, I KNOW that I would have given up my affiliate marketing journey LONG AGO if it wasn’t for my community. They have put me back AND kept me on track. I feel valued and safe to ask any questions without feeling daft.
- Less Pressure on One Person: As much as your partner or BFF wants to be there for you 24/7, that’s a lot of pressure! Having a community helps spread the love and support. One person can’t always hold up the emotional fort, right?
The Magic of Online Communities
And hey, if you’re like, “But I don’t know anyone!”—chill. We live in the golden age of the internet. Online communities are everywhere, from Facebook groups to Reddit threads, to forums dedicated to your very specific interests (yes, there’s a group for people obsessed with antique spoons). You can find your tribe without even leaving the couch.
Plus, who says your support network has to be local? I’ve got an online friend who lives 4,143 miles away but knows me better than my next-door neighbour (sorry, Betty).
If you are truly struggling for a community and want to learn about Affiliate marketing- We’d love you in our group! To find out more information, please follow me on TikTok and send me a direct message. I would love to show you how to be apart of it all. We do have a giggle.
Affiliate Marketing Moment (Yeah, We’re Going There)
Here’s where I shamelessly plug some cool things, because why not? Part of building your support network can involve sharing resources. Tools, gadgets, or services that help us live our best lives. For example, you know what makes community meet-ups or staying connected with friends even better? Awesome gear…..
If you’re looking to stay in touch with your people more easily, why not grab yourself a killer laptop or tablet? Or better yet, treat yourself to that wireless earbud set so you can listen to your favourite podcasts while ignoring the fact that your neighbour’s dog is barking AGAIN. Here are a few handy links to the good stuff (yup, affiliate links incoming):
– Wireless Earbuds That Won’t Break the Bank: Check them out here!
– Must-Have Laptop for Staying Connected: Snag it here!

By the way, when you shop through these links, you help me keep writing blogs like this—and we both win! (Thanks, community!)
At the end of the day, life throws curveballs (and sometimes full-blown wrecking balls). But having a *support network* at home and in your community is like having a double-layered trampoline—no matter how far you fall, someone’s got your back. And honestly, we could all use a little bounce back now and then, am I right?
So, call your friend, join that club, or message that old classmate who’s been popping up in your feed. And hey, if you’ve got room for one more in your network, consider me your virtual buddy.
Now, go find your people. We’re all in this together!

Hey – What a great post! Having a community that not only supports you, lifts you up, gives valuable feedback, is honest and most importantly, committed to your success is an incredible benefit if you have one. I am pleased to be part of a community of affiliate marketers and a smaller community in this field that does all these things for me. I never feel judged in my community, but I feel valued and welcomed. It is great to have several communities like family, family you choose, work associates, church friends, hobby enthusiasts, etc. I love my communities as they help to find who I am and sometimes what I want to be. One of the things that I get from all of your blogs is the theme of “kindness.” And that’s what a community is a lot of the time… a bunch of kind of people serving each other. Have a great week, my friend!
Thanks Ernie. Being part of this community has been the best thing I’ve done all year. Some true friendships have really been born and I’m very grateful. I have definitely changed for the better this year and I’m looking forward to the future.
Hi Sarah,
This post is such a great reminder of having both home and community support. You’ve highlighted how having a wider network, beyond just the people at home, can offer fresh perspectives and shared experiences that are essential for staying motivated and on track, especially in a field like affiliate marketing.
I love how you tied in personal experiences, like how your community has helped you through tough times in your journey. Plus, your humor and relatability make it such a fun read! Keep up the awesome work, this is sure to inspire many people.

Thank you Meredith. I truly believe having a community is essential for a good mental health, and I encourage everyone to try and find the right one for them- whatever their interest. Have a lovely week
I love your post! It’s so true that a strong support network can both lighten our load and lift our spirits. Your point about needing both home and community support really strikes me—having that extra layer of connection makes all the difference. After all, my husband doesn’t need to hear it all all the time! Here’s to building those networks and finding our tribes, whether in person or online.

Hi Sarah,
Totally love this blog entry! We sometimes forget how awesome that support can be and how much of it can make a difference in our journey.
Finding friendships and support in our community is such a great bonus that it really can’t be overlooked!
All the best!
Thanks Marc, I’m so pleased you liked it. Support can come in many different forms. Nobody should be doing life lonely
What a great post! I love the focus on the importance of having both a home support system and a wider community—it’s so true that one group alone can’t always handle everything life throws at us. It’s easy to lean too heavily on the people closest to us, but having a broader network offers fresh perspectives, new energy, and different kinds of support.
And thank you for the reminder that online communities are just as valuable—sometimes even more so—than local ones. The internet has made it easier than ever to find like-minded people, no matter where they live. Your shout-out to your affiliate marketing group is inspiring for anyone looking to get started in building their own community.
Thanks for this thoughtful reminder that we don’t have to do life alone. You’ve inspired me to reach out to my own community more intentionally—and maybe even join a new one! Keep up the great work! 🙂
Thanks Eleanor, We definitely shouldn’t be doing life alone. We don’t have to do it loudly and share everything about ourselves, but we all should have someone…Thank you for your lovely comment
