So, we finally did it. We bit the bullet and decided to get the bathroom done. You know when you’ve been dreaming of a Pinterest-worthy bathroom for ages, and then the moment actually arrives, and you’re like, “Oh no… what have I done?” Yep, that was me.
The chaos started with the preparation—me frantically clearing out the bathroom while simultaneously questioning every life choice that led to this moment. Then, the skip arrived on the drive. That’s when it hit me. This was happening. No backing out now.
Day one of work: The old bathroom started getting knocked out, and within minutes, the house was upside down. Dust? Everywhere. Noise? Constant. Stress levels? Through the roof. I found myself standing in the middle of the mess thinking, “Wait… the old bathroom wasn’t that bad, right? I mean, we survived with it this long.” But nope, too late. The transformation had begun.
Now, I don’t know if this is just me, but when there’s a stranger (aka, the plumber) in my house, I suddenly feel the need to live like I’m in a show home. Every morning, I was up early emptying the dishwasher, hoovering, lighting candles, making sure the house smelled like a luxury spa—because obviously, the plumber must think we have our lives together. As if he even cares?! The man is knee-deep in pipes and grout, not sniffing my wax melts and judging my kitchen worktops. But still, I couldn’t help myself. Please tell me I’m not alone in this madness?
Between all the dust and my attempt to be the best host a tradesperson has ever encountered, I managed to use my time at home wisely (for once). I put together a list of 25 ways to make money online—because let’s be real, who doesn’t want to earn extra cash just from their phone? If you’ve ever found yourself endlessly scrolling, you might as well turn that screen time into money, right? And with summer creeping up, this could be your chance to upgrade your holiday. Fancy a cocktail on the beach instead of a lukewarm juice box by the paddling pool? I got you.

P.S- if anyone was curious after reading my previous blog. Ava is still reading, no fairies have moved in but we are still hopeful! Have a lovely week x
Hi Sarah – Having any kind of renovation or remodel is not only stressful but time consuming! This brings back memories when we had a major renovation in our home. We were doing two bathrooms, the kitchen, etc. It was work that needed to be done we had saved up to do for not only the upkeep and appearance of our house but to make it what we had dreamed to be our home. It was almost complete and then Covid happened! Talk about stress and delays! I am glad to see that you are making it through and will enjoy your new renovations. My wife is the same way with the cleanliness. Everything has to be presentable even when there’s no expectation. I previously had downloaded your guide and it is not only very thorough but very practical. I am specifically looking at one method of earning additional income that I had never heard of thanks to your list. Also, the fact that someone is already making income off of an idea that you presented is incredible. Thanks for providing this and I wish you a great week!
Hi Ernie. That sounds incredibly stressful. Your patience was certainly tested throughout that time, I’m not too sure that I would have stayed calm in that situation! I do love the new bathroom but unfortunately, I now have the motivation to do the next room. My husband isn’t as excited!
I downloaded your guide. Yes the home renovations will have to wait, from my end! So happy you have a new bathroom!!
I’ll keep you posted about the download!!
Thank you for downloading it Kate! Please do, I’d love to have some feedback from you. x
Hi Sarah,
Renovations always seem like a great idea until the dust and chaos take over. 😂 And you’re definitely not alone, I also find myself cleaning like a maniac whenever a tradesperson is around, as if they care about my spotless countertops! Hope the bathroom turns out amazing in the end. Keep us updated on how it turns out!

Sarah, Oh wow, this brought back memories of when we had our kitchen redone—dust in places I didn’t even know existed and the constant fear that we’d made a terrible mistake. I completely get the weird urge to maintain a show-home level of cleanliness for the tradespeople, as if they’re secretly rating our housekeeping skills while drilling through walls. And the second-guessing? Yep, been there too—suddenly, the old, slightly broken version starts looking like a lost treasure. Wishing you luck with the rest of the reno—hopefully, the stress fades once you’re soaking in your dream bathtub! Atif
Oh wow, this was a rollercoaster of emotions! 😂 The mix of excitement, regret, and sheer survival mode during a reno is *so* relatable. And the part about acting like you live in a show home for the plumber? Yep, been there. Why do we do this?! Hope the chaos was worth it in the end, it always amazes me the before and after! Also, love the side hustle pivot—turning reno stress into online income. Off to grab that guide now!
