Picture this: Ste and I flopped on the sofa after our whirlwind trip to New York, thinking we’d have a giggle and get some serious property-envy by watching Selling Manhattan on Netflix. (Side note: If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out on the perfect ironing programme. You know, the kind where you can miss a bit while wrestling with a fitted sheet, and still feel like you’ve seen the whole thing.)
The show’s all about brokers flogging properties priced at—wait for it—$14 million and up. Yes, UP. These aren’t houses; they’re mansions floating in the sky with views so good they’d make your nan cry. Infinity pools, private gyms, wine cellars, and wardrobes bigger than my entire kitchen. It’s next-level luxury, and honestly, I was just there for the drama and the “How do they live like this?” factor.
Naturally, when I told the crew at work about it, the classic line came up: “Ah, how the other half live.” And that stuck with me. Why can’t we all have that? Why can’t I be swanning around in a penthouse with a fridge that talks to me? I want to be main the main character in my own life!
Let’s get real here: even if I had $14 million (and a miracle accountant), I don’t think I’d buy one of those apartments. But what did strike me is this: life isn’t fixed. It’s not like those laminated menus in cheap cafes where you’re stuck with the options someone else picked. Nope, you can change the script. Any day. ANY DAY. Like…today.
And here’s the best part: 2025 just rolled in. We’ve got a fresh 12 months to shake things up, try new things, and make the impossible possible. By December, you could be sipping mojitos in the Bahamas, cruising in your dream car, or yes, back in New York but this time not running out of money every time you want a bagel.
But first, let me hit you with a little secret: none of this stays a dream unless you write it down. Yep, grab a pen, a scrap of paper, the back of a takeaway menu—whatever you’ve got. Write down your goals and get specific. Want to lose weight? How much? Want a new car? What’s the price tag? Want to take your kids to Disneyland? How many kidneys do you need to sell to get there? (Kidding… mostly.)
For me, the dream is MASSIVE. By the end of 2025, I don’t want to be in my 9-5 anymore. I want my affiliate marketing business to pay the bills and give me the freedom to decide when I work, where I work, and, most importantly, whether I’m in leggings or pyjamas while doing it.
Sounds scary, right? But it’s also doable. If you’ve ever wanted to dive into affiliate marketing, just dip you toes in maybe, click HERE to read my guide. that’ll help you take that first step. Because that’s all it takes—a first step. I took the same step in 2023. I bought The Iceberg Effect from my now mentor Dean Holland, read it on the way to a family wedding and not looked back since. I’ve leave you the link HERE just incase you fancy a little look. What’s the harm in looking? right?
So, here’s your challenge: grab that pen, write down your dreams, and then reply to this email and tell me all about them. I’ll be cheering you on while watching Selling Manhattan again, pretending I live in one of those penthouses.
Dream big, laugh often, and remember: the only thing standing between you and the New York skyline is a decision to start.
Now, where’s that fitted sheet?
Hi Sarah,
What an entertaining read! I love how you turned a casual Netflix binge into a motivational kickstart for anyone reading this. The comparison to laminated menus in cheap cafes was great, such a clever way to highlight that we’re not stuck with life’s “default settings.”
Writing down dreams with specifics is such a simple yet powerful step, and the reminder that life can change any day is exactly the energy we need for 2025.
Also, I’m with you on the leggings vs. pajamas debate, freedom to choose is everything. Looking forward to seeing where your journey takes you, and I might just grab a pen myself now… because why not dream big? Thanks for the nudge and the laughs!

Haha, I love this! 😂 You’ve completely nailed the mix of humor and inspiration. “Selling Manhattan” is the ultimate guilty pleasure, but I love how you’ve taken that “how the other half live” feeling and turned it into motivation to take action. Life really can be changed, and I’m all for shaking things up in 2025!
Your advice to write down goals is so simple but so powerful. It really does make all the difference.
I’m definitely going to grab a pen (and probably a takeaway menu) to start mapping out my own goals, and who knows? By the end of 2025, maybe I’ll be sippin’ mojitos in the Bahamas too! 🌴 Cheers to big dreams and taking that first step!
And don’t worry, I’ve got the fitted sheet covered…eventually. 😂
Fitted sheets are the hardest to fold. You’ll be pleased to know that all beds were washed, dried and back on the beds! Thank you for your support.
Hi Sarah – This is such a good, inspirational and true post! There was this old saying in my former profession, “if it’s not documented it didn’t happen.,” I agree that we need to write down things that are important to us not just for memory’s sake, but for accountability’s sake. It is so early in the year that we do have the opportunity to make a difference starting now. Even if we start later, we can still make a difference. The idea is just to start starting. I have no doubt that you will make your dream reality and I hope the same for the rest of us reading your insightful blog. Have a wonderful day and week!
That’s a really good saying and one I am learning very quickly! Also what you write on said paper is important. I’m rooting for us all, and I cant wait to see what our future brings x
Hi Sarah, Often big dreams become realities by taking the first step, as you say. The art of manifestation is all about changing who we are or have been. For instance, writing down goals is fine, but becoming aware of our fears, judgments, criticisms must also be on the drawing board for eradicating. A big heart which is centered in love and forgiveness is key to drawing into our lives a big life that started as a big dream Namaste.
Ha Ha Sarah, you nailed it! In less that 12 months time I expect to be sipping mojitos at some destination resort on the Caribbean. And the ol’ gut is not gonna be hanging out so I gotta clear on my goals of handling my weight better.
I’m totally rooting for you reaching your massive goal by the end of 2025. And for the time being – good luck finding and folding that fitted sheet!
